Astoria smiled a little. “I was saying,” She walked him backwards so he was leaning against the desk. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we did have it today, sometime.” She started to run her hands up his chest softly, her fingers undoing the first four buttons of his shirt.”Of course though, not here.” She turned her head a little and brushed her lips against his chin to his jaw. “Since it’s not casual for either of us, I’m thinking it shouldn’t be in a casual, cruddy setting. What about you?” One of her hands crept to his lower back. “But for now…why don’t we do what we came here for?” She smirked up at him. “What do you say, love? We could try something new but not go too far.” Her hand that was on his back slid to his side, tracing his belt as she spoke.
His smirk growing wider, Draco leaned in for a long kiss, trying to stop his imagination from running away with him. “I say that sounds perfect.” He grinned, showing her his teeth and running a hand up and down her side, leaving it to rest on her waist and tilting his head to the side, “What did you have in mind, dear?” Subtly, without trying to bring too much attention to the action, he pushed his hips forwards towards her hands, pressing his lips against hers again.
Astoria saw Draco walk in and waited silently for him to notice her. Instead,he mutely sat on her lap. “Draco! What the hell?” She said as she picked up and clutched her book that fell on the ground. “I’m fine Draco. You have a boney ass,not a fat one.” She said and looked up at him.”Stop apologizing Draco. You do it too much.” She set her book on the arm rest and stood up. “Hi you.” She smiled, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pecking his lips. “I haven’t seen you all day. I kind of missed you, darling.” She teased. “C’mon.” She unwrapped her arm and took his hand in hers. “Sit with me?” She let go of his hand and sat on the couch. “And,please, avoid my lap. If there’s any lap sitting,it’s me on your lap and we both know where that usually leads.” She teased again. “But really, I missed you.”
Draco smiled fondly at her, a little relieved that she didn’t seem to be mad at him, and trying to hide the insult he had taken from her calling his arse bony. Carefully, he sat down next to her, pecking her cheek. “I missed you too, and I’m still sorry. I really didn’t mean to sit on you.” Laughing lightly, he kissed her again, this time on the mouth. “Regarding your previous comment though, you’re allowed to sit on my lap any time you like.” He added with a wink.
“I guess intense fits. If that’s how you feel.” Astoria said indifferently with a shrug. “I guess it’s a good thing she doesn’t know of the intensity.” She leaned off her elbow and laid back down on the grass. She had to think twice before answering his question. She could tell there was a shift in Draco but didn’t know what type. She decide it would be best just to tell him the just of what her parents said.
“Um…: She frowned. “I kind of did.” She took a deep breathe. “I told them we like each other and are getting to know each other better-not dating but seeing each other regularly. They responded with talking about your familie’s name, how it got ruined because of your father’s choices-letting you join the Dark Lord while you’re still in school, how your mother just stood there until you get personally involved. They admire whatever she did though, since, for my family, all you have and need is family. Which brings me to the next part of the letter. Please remember I only told them we are only talking but they apparently felt the need to remind me of this.” She looked down at the grass. “My whole family is very old fashioned-I’m pretty sure you get what I mean by that,it’s ridiculous, really. Anyway, they think your familie’s name will ruin any hope for me just because I was linked to it when I was sixteen, and that bugs them because they think I’m their only hope since Daphne is…Daphne, you know?” She wrinkled her nose as she said her sister’s name and looked up at him. “But it’s not like they’re gonna force me to stop seeing you or to follow in their beliefs but they aren’t going to be all smiles,if I continue seeing you.” She looked down at the grass, running her fingers in it. “I love you and I’m sorry for their response but atleast they aren’t putting their foot down or disowning me.” She said as she looked up at Draco with a small smile.
Draco listened intently to her talk about her family. He didn’t like the idea that being with him was going to distance her from them at all. He liked Astoria’s family, they had always seemed like good people, but of course they, like every other wizarding family, would never be able to approve of him being anywhere within fifteen miles of their children. Still, he was sure that unhappy as they would be, Astoria’s family would try to support them. They were those kind of people. Nodding lightly, Draco stroked her hair. “It’s okay.” He said quietly, “Just.. I don’t want to end up splitting apart you an your family. I know how much family matters, and I don’t want you to end up like…” He caught himself before the end of the sentence, knowing now to be careful of what he said. “I love you, okay? But your happiness comes before you being with me.”
Astoria faked a smile at Draco’s word. She didn’t know how to reply to his confession. Did he resent being here? Was he just looking for a distraction for while he was here? Was she it,if he was? Would the time they spend together mean something to him when he leaves school? She questioned all to herself before she realized she was getting ahead of herself. It was only their second date for merlin’s sake. She took another sip of her water to compose herself.
“Well,in life you can’t plan that kind of stuff,Draco. Things change, people change.” She shrugged and started cutting her steak. “You just turned eightteen. You have alot of time to start making your own life and family.” She added the family part as she remember he mentioned it on their first date. ”If it was meant to be,it would’ve been. There’s a reason it didn’t happen. You just have to find it and embrace it.” She ate a piece of her steak.
“Who knows? Maybe it will lead you to the life you want.” She laughed a little. “But I do get what you mean. I want to leave after this year. I’m tired of being a no one here.”
Draco cocked his head to the side, listening intently. Finally he shrugged and smiled lightly, “You’re probably right. Besides, it’s not all bad that’s come of this.” He grinned at her lightly, “I mean, if it wasn’t for everything that’s happened, I probably wouldn’t be with you, would I?” He cracked a smile lightly, “I guess that could be a good enough reason, right?” He looked at her earnestly, “Right?”
Quickly he took away another sip of his beer, “Astoria you’re not a no-one. And whatever I say or anyone else says, qualifications do count for something. It’s your life though, so do whatever you want.” He leaned forwards slightly, “What is it that you want to do with your life anyways? I mean, I don’t think I ever asked.”
Astoria rolled her eyes playfully. “Of course! Don’t want my boyfriend to be awkward or anything, right?” She teased him with a smile. “Oh,please,Draco.” She said shaking her head. “I haven’t exactly done this either, you know.” Astoria flushed at a little at her confession. “Daphne is better at this stuff.” She shrugged and slipped her hand into his. “We just have to give each other a chance, and sometime, that’s all.” She said smiling at him.
Draco smiled down at her, he wondered how he had never noticed before now just how good a person Astoria actually was. “Wait, so I’m your boyfriend now?” He asked, grinning and raising his eyebrows slightly, noticing her choice of words. Squeezing her hand lightly, he let go of it and crossed over to the bar, paying for their drinks and then returning to her and taking hold of her hand again. “So come on then Girlfriend, aren’t you expected back at school?” He led her out of the pub and stood awkwardly looking at her, wondering if he should kiss her or not.
Astoria felt a wave of emotions hit her. Draco just called her sister a bitch and called her hardly lovable? Astoria always knew that Daphne didn’t beat around the bush but she wouldn’t call her a bitch. But then again…Daphne had always been so caring and loving towards Astoria. She also knew that Daphne was lovable. She just has to let you in before you see it. Infact,Astoria admired Daphne’s and Blaise’s relationship. Although Draco was right. But Astoria had always listened to Daphne’s input. Astoria didn’t say yer or no to Draco’s question and just smiled at him. She then tilted her head alittle, her smile dropping at Draco’s last question. “What are you exactly saying,Draco?” She asked curiously with an eyebrow raised. “Are you saying that we keep our relationship a secret?” Her tone was laced with amusement at the idea.
Draco frowned at her pause, worried that he had said the wrong thing about Daphne, but she didn’t seem to be too bothered by it, so he just brushed it off, hoping that she would eventually forget about it. Leaning forwards, he smirked slightly, “Well, not if you think it would be best to do something else, but…” He shrugged and took a quiet sip of his butterbeer, “It would probably get rid of a lot of problems, and no-one will hate you for being with me if they don’t know about it.” He bit his lip and looked up at her, feeling worried. Although he liked her a lot, Draco didn’t really know how to act around Astoria; he didn’t want to offend her. “Look, Astoria,” He sighed, “I told you before, I’m not exactly the ideal guy. People aren’t going to look up to anyone who’s with me.” He cared about her enough to not want her to end up being hated in the same way that he was; her feelings mattered to him. Sighing, he shook his head lightly, looking away, figuring that he had just blown it with Astoria. Maybe he was just meant to be alone.
Astoria raised an eyebrow at Draco, wondering and worrying what he was about to say. Is he going to tell her that he doesn’t think they could work? That he didn’t want to try? She looked down to her lap and listened to him closely. Her heart started to feel heavy. Her lips then twitched in a small smile at his mention of saving a puppy. She looked at him when she felt her hand get squeezed. She moved closer to him, smiling for awhile until he said his last few words. “Draco…” She said causing him to look up. ” If we,” she blushed. ”do get together,I won’t be going through all that for you. I’ll be going through it for us.” Her blush get deeper and she looked down, willing it to go away. “I know it will be hard but I like talking to you,it’s easy- I think that and so other many things could be worth it.” She shrugged, took a deep breath and looked back at him with a smile.
Draco had to stifle a laugh when he realised she was blushing, feeling an immense rush of gratitude towards her. She was far too good for him, and she was just being so kind. He knew that not many girls would be able to put up with what they would get just for being with him. Of course, being Draco, he couldn’t let his gratitude show. Edging a little closer to her, he brushed a strand of hair off her face and smirked slightly, “So does that mean that there is a chance of us getting together at some point in the near future?” Trying to suppress the laughter he felt building up inside of him at his abysmal attempt at flirting, he sighed, sitting back and smiling at her again. “I’ll go and order us some drinks shall I?” Standing, he quickly walked over to the bar and paid for two Butterbeers, trying his best not to glance back at her as the drinks were prepared. Walking back to the table he caught her eye and winked, before sitting and taking a sip of his drink, trying again not to look at her too often.
